Skills

A broad range of skills are needed to bring the Brighton Belle project to fruition.

Rail engineering skills will be applied to update the train set with more modern and robust bogies, to replace the traction motors and to fit updated control and management systems. The coachwork of each vehicle will require significant time and effort to restore the external appearance to that of the train at its launch in 1933. And the interior will need the traditional crafts of the fine woodworker, upholsterer and painter.

Short videos of the craftsmen at work will be added as the project progresses.
